Route H2 - Hiking in Orientali Carpathians |

The East part of Carpathians named "Carpatii Orientali" is a vast area with many individual mountains ridges, large depressions and deep valleys. Here is the largest volcanic area from Europe and a great collection of mineral springs. Our tour crosses by foot or in our mini coach the most representative areas from all Orientali Carpathians. The hiking trails are easy and medium difficulty, accommodation in rural houses, mountain huts and hotels during the route and breakfast and dinner will provided by us. We will have care by the luggages in hiking trip and our guides will help you in any travel aspects. Require a minimum hiking experience, a good health and individual equipment (hiking boots for three seasons, warm clothes, rain cap and jacket)! Time: 12 days Difficulty: medium (require hiking experience in mountains under 2000m altitude)
Suppliment for single room: 140 Euro/person. Access and visitor taxes: 40 Euro/person payable in first day in Romania. The prices include: accommodation in hotels

Tour by days
Day 1: Bucharest airport - Bucharest city tour - night train to Sighetul Marmatiei (17:40). Meeting in Bucharest airport, short tour of the city, then transfer to North Romania by night train. Night train to Maramures region. Day 2: Sighetul Marmatiei - Iza valley - Moisei - Borsa resort Maramures region is the "wood land". Visit the famous wood churches from Maramures: Bogdan Voda, Rozavlea, Ieud, some of the highest on Europe and the "Village museum" from Sighetul Marmatiei. In Sapanta is the "Happy graveyard" - a strange "friendly" graveyard. Breakfast in Sighetul Marmatiei at restaurant, dinner in restaurant in hotel in Borsa resort. Accommodation in Hotel Cerbu from Borsa complex. Day 3: Borsa resort - hiking to "Cailor waterfall" from Rodna Mountains ( UNESCO patrimony) (3-4 hours hiking) - Bistrita glacial lake - Vatra Dornei resort - Zugreni canyon - Rarau Mountains. Start the first day inside the mountains
with a easy hiking to one of the biggest waterfall from Orientali Carpathian's
- "Cailor Waterfall" from Rodna Mountains - These mountains
are one of the highest from Carpathian with peaks over Breakfast in restaurant in Borsa resort and dinner in Rarau at Hotel Alpin. Accommodation in rural guest house in Vatra Dornei area. Day 4: River rafting on Bistrita (2 hours) and hiking in Rarau Mountains (4 - 5 hours) - Moldovita Monastery - Sucevita Monastery In the morning after breakfast we
will be ready for a tonic river rafting time (2 hours), then spend an
other 4 hours for easy hiking in Rarau Mountains at over 1600m alt.
There are the famous"Pietrele Doamnei" - huge limestone Breakfast in Hotel Alpin from Rarau, dinner at pension in Sucevita village. Accommodation in pension in Sucevita. Day 5: Sucevita Monastery - Cacica salt mine - walking to Neamt fortress (30 min.) - Hiking in Stanisoarei Mountains (1 hour) - Durau resort In Cacica village was made a deep salt mine by a large
Polish minority . Inside the mine is a chapel. Leave Bucovina to Neamt Breakfast in pension in Sucevita, dinner in Durau resort. Accommodation in small hotel in Durau resort. Day 6: Durau resort - hiking in Ceahlau Mountain (6 hours) - Bicaz Gorges This is a full hiking day. Cross Ceahlau
Mountain in 6 hour hiking. You can take the lunch on Dochia hut. Ceahlau
is National park and restrictive access. The landscapes are amazing
in clear days. You can see many rocks with bizarre aspects, deep Breakfast in hotel in Durau resort, dinner and accommodation in small hotel in Lacu Rosu resort. Day 7: Bicaz Gorges - hiking in Hasmas Mountains (3 - 4 hours) - rock climbing in Bicaz Gorges walls and boating on the Lacu Rosu. Bicaz Gorges is the most spectacular gorges from Orientali
Carpathians. With huge rocks over 350m high, this is a rock climbing
paradise. We make some hiking tours to discover
this impressive area. Breakfast and dinner in Lacu Rosu resort. Accommodation in small hotel in Lacu Rosu resort. Day 8: Lacu Rosu resort - Miercurea Ciuc town - Baile Tusnad resort - hiking to Ciomatu Mountain (1 - 2 hours) - Baile Tusnad resort. Is time to make a tour in volcanic area. "Sfanta
Ana" is the lonely volcanic lake from all Carpathians. In this
area is an Breakfast in Lacu Rosu resort, dinner and accommodation in Baile Tusnad resort. Day 9: Tusnad resort - Sighisoara fortress - Brasov town - Bran (Dracula) Castle - Predeal resort - Cheia resort We leave for few hours the Carpathian Mountains and make
a visit inside Transylvania hills to renowed Sighisoara fortress (UNESCO
patrimony). After a short tour of the fortress we return to one of the
most visited area from Orientali Carpathian including Brasov - Predeal
area, located on the border between Orientali and Meridionali Breakfast in Tusnad resort, dinner and accommodation in Cheia resort. Day 10: Cheia resort - Muntele Rosu chalet - hiking in Ciucas Mountains (6 hours). - Cheia resort Today we start the last long hiking
trail in Orientali Carpathian to the top of Ciucas Mountains, on Ciucas
peak (1954m). You Breakfast, dinner and accommodation in Cheia resort. Day 11: Cheia resort - Slanic Prahova - Bucharest city tour From Cheia our way leave the mountains area to Subcarpathians hills, to Slanic Prahova where is a beautiful salt mountain and the biggest salt mine from this part of Europe. In the afternoon we are again in Bucharest, also called "Little Paris". Free time to walk in old center of the town and to search for souvenirs. Breakfast in Cheia resort, dinner and accommodation in Bucharest city in hotel. Day 12: Bucharest city - airport Transfer from Bucharest to international airport Breakfast in Bucharest.
